Cruisin’ through destinations

Cruising can get a bad reputation from the obnoxious advertisements on television and the overall reputation of being an Americanized tourist trap. However, I am here to tell you not to write off cruising just yet. Here’s why:

Cruising can get a bad reputation from the obnoxious advertisements on television and the overall reputation of being an Americanized tourist trap. However, I am here to tell you not to write off cruising just yet. Here’s why:

1. All-inclusive luxury

There’s nothing like arriving and knowing that there will be events planned on the ship just for you. Additionally, there are live plays or musicals and late night events. Don’t forget the pool and spa amenities!

2. Ability to see remote locations

The great thing about traveling by water is that you can reach truly remote areas of the world. For example, you’re able to see glaciers and icebergs while sailing through a fjord (a deep canyon between mountains).

3. Vistas are constantly changing

While on a boat, you get the chance to see a whole new perspective. Additionally, you are constantly moving and can see continued changes in the view without putting any thought in it at all.

4. Never worry about traveling once you arrive

One of my least favorite parts of traveling is feeling tired from bouncing from hostel to hostel in the mad dash to see as many sights as possible. While on the boat, the captain worries about traveling and you can just relax.

5. Excursions allow you to experience amazing opportunities

Often times, excursions offer you an opportunity to get immersed in the culture of you location. Whether that is snorkeling in the Bahamas, traveling by train through the mountains of Canada, or seeing the Parthenon in the Mediterranean, there will be an excursion for you.

6. The food is REALLY good

All-inclusive is great, but when the food tastes amazing, you can really get the most bang for your buck. Just imagine 24 hour food availability along with 5-course dinners!

Hopefully, you can give cruising a chance in your future, and if I’d have to give you a recommendation — an Alaskan itinerary is the way to go!
